Bioimpedance analysis
Traditional BIA technologies using the basic program ABC01-0362 are used in dietetics, nutrition, sports medicine and fitness testing, in mass preventive examinations of the population. Bioimpedance study of body composition, using domestic age and gender norms, allows:
  • assess the patient's nutritional status
  • conduct an in-depth diagnosis of obesity and metabolic syndrome
  • assess the adequacy of the protein component of the diet
  • assess the patient's motor activity
  • assess the physical development of children and adolescents
  • identify hydration disorders in the body
  • to identify the risks of a wide range of chronic catabolic diseases
  • The research method is simple, non-invasive, safe and can be used in the age range from 5 to 85 years. The method is not recommended for use in patients with an implanted pacemaker.
Bioimpedance analysis (BIA) is a well-established method in clinical practice for assessing absolute and relative values of body composition components based on measuring anthropometric parameters and components of the electrical impedance of a patient's body area - active resistance (R) and reactive resistance (Xc). The material substrate of active resistance in a biological object is fluids (cellular and extracellular) with an ionic conductivity mechanism. The substrate of reactive resistance (the capacitive component of impedance) is cell membranes.
